These Teriyaki Chicken Thighs are the perfect lunch or dinner for quick Japanese food lovers. it is better than any bought Teriyaki Chicken and is a family favourite.
First, here is the list of the different ingredients you will need to prepare the Teriyaki Chicken Thighs that serves 4
- 1/4 cup or 60 ml soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp Mirin ( rice vinegar)
- 3 Tbsp Sake
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 4 garlic cloves, smashed and cut lenghtwise
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 8 chicken thighs, skin off
- 1 large green onion, thinly sliced
Now, here are the different steps you will need to follow to make the Teriyaki Chicken Thighs with a 10 minutes preparation time and a 20 minutes cooking time
First, combine together the soy sauce, Kirin, Sake, sugar and smashed garlic in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside.
Heat the oil in a good non-stick pan over medium heat. Sear the chicken for about 6 to 8 minutes, each side, depending on the thickness of the chicken thighs. Let sear until golden browned and cooked through.
Drain any excess fat released from the chicken. Pour in the sauce, distribute the sauce evenly and cover the pan with a lid to cook for a minute.
Uncover, continue to cook until the sauce thickens and reduces down. this will take about 5 minutes. Coat each chicken thigh in the sauce. Top with green onion slices.
Serve immediately over steamed rice, stir fried vegetables or Cantonese Rice
