La période entre Noël et Nouvel An est une période privilégiée pour sortir de la routine et nous voilà donc partis pour quelques jours à Bath, dans le Sumerset, découvrir la campagne anglaise et cette si jolie ancienne ville romaine. Les Romains fondèrent la ville pour en faire un lieu thermal. La ville devint populaire en tant que station thermale pendant l’époque georgienne, qui conduit à une importante expansion laissant un incroyable héritage architectural fabriqué avec la pierre de la région. Une pierre blonde, qui donne à toute la ville une couleur miel.
Tout comme le reste du Sud-Ouest de l’Angleterre, le climat de Bath est tempéré, mais très humide. Donc, comme bon nombre de villes anglaises, Bath compte de nombreux et jolis Pubs, coquets et chaleureux et nous avons eu l’occasion d’en découvrir plusieurs dont un particulièrement sympathique. Nous y avons mangé le Fish & chips traditionnel qui était très bon! C’était au Marlborough Tavern.

The period between Christmas and New Year is a privileged way out of the routine and we therefore, left London for a few days in Bath, in Sumerset, discovering the English countryside and this pretty Roman town. The Romans founded the city built around the hot springs. The town became popular as a spa resort during the Georgian period, which leads to a significant expansion leaving an incredible architectural heritage built with local stone. A yellow stone, which gives to the city a honey color.
Like the rest of the South West of England, the climate is temperate in Bath, but very wet. So, like many English cities, Bath has many Pubs and pretty, stylish and welcoming ones and we had the opportunity to discover many and one was particularly friendly. We ate the traditional Fish & Chips and that was very good! It was at the Marlborough Tavern.
