Gingerbread

As we are on the eve of Saint Nicolas Feast, as Christmas markets begin to settle, and as Christmas time is around the corner, I give you here my Gingerbread recipe. For those of you who have not tried it yet, you will be surprised by the use of spices, but let me reassure you, it will only add dreams and poetry to the cooking !

Gingerbread

Here are the different ingredients you will need to make the Gingerbread that serves 4 to 6

  • 250 gr ( 1/2 lb) flour
  • 125 gr ( 1/2 cup) sugar
  • 200 ml ( 3/4 cup) milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Spices: nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger (1 tsp of each one).
  • 3 tablespoons liquid honey.

 

Here are the different steps you will  have to follow to make the Gingerbread

Mix well the flour with baking soda then add the sugar and milk and then the spices.

Let stand for about one hour and then add three tbsp of honey. Mix well again.

Pour the mixture into a rectangle mold, like cake mold and bake at moderate heat  (325°F) for 35-45 minutes.

Before taking the gingerbread from the oven, check for doneness by inserting a knife that should come out clean and dry.  let cool on a rack.
